Similes to make you smile!

Collaborative Creature

Last Monday Room 6 and I made Collaborative Creature with Mrs Collins. We had a piece of paper and we had to draw the head of any creature. Then we folded the top third over and passed it to the next person. I drew the head of a dog and then I passed it to Nino, who drew the body of a snake. In the end I passed it to Desiree, and she drew the legs of a bear. I got a surprise when I saw my creature. I named it Dog-ake-ear.

Last week on Wednesday St Patrick's school went on a bus to Sylvia Park. When we got there their were lots of school's. There was Pammure Bridge school and Tamaki college and
Point England school. All the school's were so happy when they went inside. I was so Excited that I nearly screamed. The lights went off and everybody was ready to watch the Manaiakalani movie. When the Manaiakalani movie was finished all the school's went back to there own school's.  When we went back to our own school we all did prayers then we went back to class and we cleaned up our classroom and then we went home. My favourite movie was the one from Tamaki College about fixing the broken rocket.

Nicky ASB visit

03.09.19

                                                   Saving money

A  visitor came to Saint Patrick's school today and her name was Nicky. She taught us that dreams for the future are important and we have to plan for them. I want to be a rugby player.
She told us about a boy who wanted to be a rugby player and wanted to go on a trip. He asked his neighborhood if he could do there trash bins every Tuesday. The neighbors said yes and they would pay him $5 every week. He worked for ten neighbours and after one month he had saved $200. He went on his trip. His parents couldn't help him because they didn't have much money. He did it by himself.

Tukutuku Mats

Last week we made Tukutuku mats. They were interesting to do and some people found it quite difficult but I did not.
At first Mrs Agnew gave us a white piece of cardboard that she said it was called a loom. We had to cut on the black lines right up to the top, but be careful not to go right through. Then we had to take red and black strips of paper and weave them under and over until the whole loom was finished.
I enjoyed making this and it reminded me of the Maori people who have these in their meeting houses on the walls.

St Patrick's day - by Willietony

20.03.19                                                                                                                                                       On Monday morning it was St Patrick's Day. The whole school and our parents went to Mass. Mass was great because we worshiped God by singing and praying to God. When mass was finished we went back to class and drank some water and then we went to the canopy to do Jump Jam. We dance to music and it's lots of fun.
Then the bell rang and it was morning tea. I played soccer with the Room 7's and when the bell rang again we got changed. Then we sat in the canopy and everybody else too. Mrs Bullot  was speaking and then she told what team we were in. We had to line up facing  Room 6.Everybody went to the the different tabloid stations.
In the afternoon we went back to class and we played games and spoke about St Patrick. It was a great day and we were tired when we went home.

Catholic Schools day

On Tuesday it was Catholic schools day. St Ignatius and St Pius X came to our school and they were wearing red uniforms and st Ignatius  wore blue uniforms. Mass started and we sang and listened to readings and prayers. Near the end they did a Liturgical dance. It was very nice.
After Mass they were gathered under the canopy and eating there lunch and talking. It was raining and soon St Ignatius had to leave to go back to their school. We were playing on the big kids park in our school with St Pius X kids. Then they had to go back to school. Room 6 had a great afternoon together in class.

Tika, Pono, Aroha

We have been learning about how Jesus respected the tapu (sacredess) of people. He told stories which show us how we must care about other people. The first story we read was when Jesus was walking home to Gallilee and then he saw a Samaritan woman. When Jesus was alive the Jews hated the Samaritans and couldn't talk to them. Jesus still asked the woman for some water.
He shows us that it is important to treat other people with tika (doing the right thing), pono (being true) and aroha (with love and compassion). Sometimes even when we don't want to get involved, we should try and help other people especially they are sad or disappointed.
